"Prevention Night"
Join us for an evening of resources and information as we host our 2nd Annual Prevention Night!
Our agenda will include:
- A Special Presentation on Mental Health from our OHS Youth Council Officers
- A FREE Narcan Training from CASJ!
- Information and resources about Mental Health, Wellness and Substance Misuse Prevention from our district and community organizations
**If you are under 18 years of age, you must have a parent or guardian with you to receive a FREE Narcan Kit
We highly recommend you register prior so we can ensure we have enough Narcan Kits available for all!
Event Recap
Thank you to our amazing partners OSD Be Well, OHS Youth Council, Community Action for Social Justice and The OHS Wellness Center for helping put together such an educational and eye opening program for Oceanside Students, Parents and Staff! With over 80 attendee's, we shared information about OSD resources such as Sources of Strength, OHS Youth Council and OHS Wellness Center. We also provided information for Community Resources such as Oceanside SAFE Coalition and a resource fair with Oceanside Counseling Center, Pride for Youth, and Long Island Crisis Center among the tables that were available. Attendee's were provided presentations on Prevention Education covering topics such as THC Potency, Underage Drinking, Local Youth Substance Misuse Data, Co-Occurring Disorders and Teen Brain Development. Our Youth Council members also provided a brief presentation on Mental Health, and how to assess & address such topics with your teen children. Finally, we closed the evening with an incredible Narcan Training from Anthony Parisi of Community Action for Social Justice. Narcan Kits and Fentanyl Testing Strips were provided to all individuals who attended.
