Event Recap

With each year that passes we are truly blown away by the support of the Oceanside community for “Overdose Awareness Day”.

In 2015, Oceanside SAFE Coalition formed as a community response to a devastating increase in local overdose related deaths. The recognition of Overdose Awareness Day has become an annual reminder for the Coalition as to why we do the work we do. We have all been affected by the loss of our friends, loved ones, children, and neighbors. We gather to raise awareness, provide information, increase access to services, reduce stigma, memorialize those we have lost, and support friends and families left behind.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to our community partners Oceanside Warriors, Oceanside Library, Oceanside Kiwanis Club, and Dee's Nursery for their unfailing dedication to this cause and their support each year in bringing this event to life. Thank you to Councilwoman Laura Ryder and Town of Hempstead for providing this years Narcan Training and for always supporting our prevention initiatives. Special thank you's to Assemblyman Brian Curran, Senator Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick, Congressman Anthony D'esposito, Oceanside Counseling Center, Oceanside Unified, Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, Oceanside High School Youth Council, Mark Eriksen and Oceanside / Island Park Herald.

Together we can - and together we will
