Congratulations to Oceanside High School Senior, Sophia Mannino on being the winner of the "Red Ribbon Week" poster submission contest!
We asked Sophia what Red Ribbon Week means to her, and her answer was incredibly inspiring:
"Advocating for Mental Health has become incredibly important to me over the years. Problems with drug and alcohol abuse are unfortunately very prevalent in our community. I've heard way too many stories about people who have died due to an overdose. I want to bring awareness to those who have died along with those have lost a loved one due to such tragedy. Substance abuse effects so many more than we think, so it's important to educate others about it's impact in order to prevent it in the future"
